Terence Blanchard has established himself as one of the most influential jazz musicians of his generation, helping to shape the contours of modern jazz today. Rising to prominence as Wynton Marsalis’s replacement in Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Blanchard’s storied and award-winning skills doesn’t stop at jazz; he has scored over 50 films, working with the likes of Spike Lee and George Lucas, and recently premiered his opera-in-jazz, Champion, co-commissioned by Jazz St. Louis and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis to international acclaim.
